The little circus

Electroacoustic Solo by Laurent BIGOT

The Little Circus is a complex sound object, made of wood, plastic, wires, springs, and fragility. A breath can set it in vibration.
Twelve small microphones will draw on its body’s multiple resources.

The Little Circus is a circus. The manipulation is perilous, the danger of falling always present.
The Little Circus is a circus with acrobats, tightrope walkers, trapeze artists, animals. It is a sound circus, just as theater can be musical.

It is also a theater of objects.
The Little Circus, all made of tinkering, recycling, and cheap gadgets, does not rely on the anecdotal.
The sound seeks its sources in scenic data.
The action feeds the sound; the sound diverts the action. Improvisation, chance of mechanics.

The Little Circus can make you smile, with its operetta ringmaster, its gadgets and its fragility. It will do so rather by its unexpected situations, a propensity for distancing, and its misunderstandings between image and sound.
